About Gio
Good to meet you
My name is Giorgia, but you can call me Gio. I’ve been a Yoga practitioner for years, and I've completed a Yoga teacher training 200h in Rishikesh, India, at the foothills of the Himalayas, in the surroundings of the holy river Ganges. During the time in India I've learned different Yoga practices: Yoga Asana; Hatha and Ashtanga vinyasa styles, meditation & relaxation and pranayama basics (breath work).
I've experienced the art of Thai massage through my acroyoga journey in the Netherlands for three years and I've completed 150h advanced lvl 1 to lvl 4 Nuad Bo-Rarn (northern style) Thai massage course, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Certifications: YTT 200h, Thai Massage 150h (lvl5), Swedish Massage
My approach
With Yoga I've experienced (and I'm still experiencing) life differently, as I'm continuing to learn during my daily practice. I train every day to learn more about body mechanics, physiology, and anatomy to be able to understand how the mind-body connection works, associated with Ayurveda basics and modern science.
Having fun and discovering about oneself is at the base of my teaching style. When you have fun, you can learn way faster than when you do something just for the sake of doing it. When you discover how the parts of your body work, you learn something more about yourself and how your brain works, correlated to those movements and feelings. I can teach you to use tools to understand how the physical world affects your own mind and how you respond to those inputs. Learning about yourself is the first step for self-reflection, understanding, empathy, and compassion. With this mindset, the universe manifests to you in its beauty.
This holistic and engaging approach has a strong emphasis on experiential learning and self-discovery. It aligns with some well-established educational principles, such as constructivism and experiential learning theory, which suggest that people learn best when they actively engage with and make sense of their experiences.
Here are some key elements of my teaching philosophy:
Fun and Enjoyment: I believe that learning should be enjoyable and that having fun is conducive to effective learning. When people are enjoying themselves, they are more likely to be motivated and engaged in the learning process.
Self-Discovery: I value the idea that learning involves discovering more about oneself. This self-awareness can lead to a deeper understanding of how one's body and mind are interconnected.
Embodied Learning: My approach incorporates the idea that physical movement and bodily experiences can enhance cognitive understanding. This is in line with theories of embodied cognition, which suggest that our physical experiences are integral to our thinking and learning.
Empowerment through Tools: My aim is to give you the tools and techniques that can help individuals understand the relationship between the physical world and their own minds. This practical approach can empower learners to take an active role in their education.
Self-Reflection and Empathy: Learning about oneself is a stepping stone to self-reflection, empathy, and compassion. It's not just about acquiring knowledge but also about personal growth and understanding others.
Connection to the Universe: Yoga philosophy implies a sense of interconnectedness between the individual and the broader universe. This holistic view can foster a deeper appreciation of the world and a sense of wonder and discovery, which leads to a sense of peace and fulfillment.
Create mind-body connection for personal growth, self-awareness, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the universe.
OM, Shanti
